This is the monoi that started it all. Parfumerie Tiki has made Monoi Tiare Tahiti in Papeete since 1942 by soaking hand-picked tiare blossoms (Tahitian gardenia) in refined coconut oil. The result is a light, silky oil with the scent of a fresh Tahitian lei. It carries the Monoi de Tahiti Appellation d'Origine.

  • Scent notes: Creamy white floral: fresh tiare (Tahitian gardenia) over a soft coconut base. The signature scent of Tahiti.
  • Ingredients: Coconut (Cocos nucifera) oil, Tiare (Gardenia tahitensis) flower, Parfum (Fragrance), Tocopherol (Vitamin E).
  • How to use:
    • Skin: smooth a few drops onto damp skin after a bath or shower.
    • Hair: as a pre-shampoo mask, work into lengths and ends, leave 15 to 30 minutes, then shampoo. Or rub one or two drops between your palms and finish dry ends.
    • Body and massage: warm a little in your hands and massage in.

Frequently asked questions

What is Monoi Tiare Tahiti?
Monoi is refined coconut oil in which fresh tiare (Tahitian gardenia) flowers are macerated. Under the Monoi de Tahiti Appellation d'Origine, it must be made in French Polynesia from Polynesian coconuts and tiare flowers.

How do I use monoi oil on my hair?
Work it through damp or dry lengths and ends as a 15 to 30 minute pre-shampoo mask, or smooth one or two drops onto dry ends as a finishing oil.

Why is my monoi solid?
Monoi hardens below 68°F (20°C) like any coconut oil. Warm the bottle in water for a few minutes; the oil itself is unaffected.
